Storm Debris Cleanup will be handled by Crowder Gulf for all areas inside Bay Minette City Limits. This work will begin after electrical companies have cleared all power lines, likely early the week of Sept. 21, 2020.
IMPORTANT: Residents must push all storm debris out to the edge of the road/right-of-way for pick-up. DO NOT block roadways, fire hydrants, power poles or storm drains.
Storm debris should be SEPARATED as best as possible following the guidelines in this graphic. Do not mix storm debris with household garbage and bulky waste such as appliances/furniture/demolition.

The Alabama Department of Human Resources has received federal approval to distribute Disaster Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (D-SNAP) benefits to qualifying Gulf Coast residents living in Baldwin, Escambia and Mobile counties in the wake of Hurricane Sally. The U.S. Department of Agriculture Food and Nutrition Service approved the program today for Alabama’s Gulf Coast at the request of DHR. Last week, DHR announced the approval of automatic replacement benefits for thousands of SNAP recipients along the Gulf Coast. Those benefits are intended to replace food purchased with SNAP that was lost to widespread power outages. Current SNAP recipients are not eligible for D-SNAP, due to already being approved for these replacement benefits.
The D-SNAP application period for non-SNAP households in Baldwin and Escambia counties will begin Monday, October 5, 2020, and continue through Friday, October 9. For Mobile County, the application period will begin Tuesday, October 13, and continue through Friday, October 16, and then resume for a final day on Monday, October 19.
Non-SNAP households can begin the process of requesting disaster food assistance by submitting a pre-screening form via a new online portal launched by DHR to promote social distancing during the COVID-19 pandemic. All residents who submit the pre-screening form must also complete an interview as part of the certification process.The pre-screening tool will be available online each day of the application period from 6am-7pm at dhr.alabama.gov/. Approved benefits will be delivered via EBT cards.
If requested, elderly and/or disabled households can get assistance completing the pre-screening form by calling their local DHR office during the designated dates mentioned above and between the hours of 8am-5pm.
Alabama DHR Commissioner Nancy Buckner said, “The financial burden of Hurricane Sally is weighing heavy upon many Alabamians who were already struggling at the hands of COVID-19. The availability of this food assistance is needed to lighten their load and to alleviate hunger. DHR stands with the Gulf and will continue seeking relief for its residents using all the tools at our disposal.”
D-SNAP benefits are reserved for non-SNAP, income-eligible households with both unreimbursed disaster-related expenses and food loss caused by Hurricane Sally. Disaster-related expenses include:
· Evacuation or relocation expenses
· Disaster-related personal injury
The Alabama Department of Insurance has a Fraud Investigation team in Baldwin County actively investigating cases. If you hear about or experience any unlawful activity- from price gouging to impersonating a Federal Official- contact your local Police Department. In Bay Minette, that number is 251-580-2559.
American Red Cross: Beginning Monday, Sept. 28, households whose homes are destroyed or sustained major damage from Hurricane Sally, descriptions listed below, may contact Red Cross at 1-800-RED-CROSS and select option 4 to speak to a dedicated call agent to complete an application for financial assistance. For the next 2 weeks, the lines will be open daily from 7:30am – 10:00pm CST. The deadline to apply for emergency assistance is Sunday, Oct. 11 at 10:00pm CST.
Baldwin County Commissioner Jeb Ball announced Sunday, Sept. 20, 2020, that FEMA has granted Individual Assistance to Baldwin, Mobile, and Escambia Counties. Electrical support shelters provide power for essential electronic medical equipment for residents who are currently without power in their home. There will not be any medical personnel at any of these locations, but security will be provided. These shelters will remain open until residential power becomes more accessible.

If you need help with tree or debris removal, please call the Crisis Cleanup Hotline at 1-800-451-1954. Give your address and what you need help with; that will be entered into a database and assigned to a volunteer cleanup team when those folks get into our area.
Baldwin County VOAD (1-800-451-1954) is the contact for anyone in need of Emergency Debris Removal. If you do not have the resources or ability to remove trees or you need your roof tarped give them a call. This is a volunteer organization.

United Way of Baldwin County has established a Hurricane Sally Disaster Relief Fund to aid storm victims in Baldwin County. Donations will go to support immediate response, long-term recovery, and fulfilling unmet needs of Baldwin County residents affected by the storm. One hundred percent of donations go directly towards these efforts. The United Way of Baldwin County is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and donations may be tax deductible as applicable by law.
The Alabama Baptist Disaster Relief Team is stationed in Baldwin and Mobile Counties to assist those in need. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the City of Bay Minette, shall receive and open proposals
to assist the City in preparation work for pending disaster and the process of gaining federal and
state assistance related to Disaster Recovery and Emergency Response Grant Services on an as
needed, as directed basis. (hereinafter referred to as “recovery and response grant services” in
this Request for Proposals and in attached specifications) for the City of Bay Minette. The
request contained herein is not subject to the Alabama competitive bid statutes given the nature
of the professional services sought, the high degree of professional skill involved and the
decisive part that the personality of the individual(s) employed will play in the engagement. In
addition, the City has previously declared an emergency, in writing, and any delay in the award
of the subject request for proposal would be detrimental to the public good.
The proposal opening will take place at Bay Minette City Hall located at 301 D’Olive Street in
Bay Minette, Alabama at 3:00PM. on Friday October 9, 2020. Time is of the essence in
submitting proposals and only proposals received and date stamped by 3:00 P.M. Central
Time on Friday, October 9, 2020, will be opened and considered. One award will be made
pursuant to the procedures set out herein. Proposers and any other interested individuals are
